{"id":5148,"date":"2025-01-26T19:48:35","date_gmt":"2025-01-26T17:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dhcab.com\/?p=5148"},"modified":"2025-01-26T19:48:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-26T17:48:35","slug":"brics-expands-footprint-in-the-global-south","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dhcab.com\/?p=5148","title":{"rendered":"BRICS Expands Footprint In The Global South"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"postie-post\">\n<div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<p>Indonesia was admitted as a full member of the BRICS group of major emerging economies on January 6, 2025.<br \/>As Statista&#8217;s Felix Richter shows\u00a0in the following chart, the bloc\u2019s footprint in the Global South has continued to expand, growing its economic and political clout on the world stage, establishing a real counterweight to the Western-dominated\u00a0G7.<br \/>Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates formally joined on January 1, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the expansion of the BRICS, South African president Cyril Ramaphosa\u00a0said at a press briefing:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe shared our vision of BRICS as a champion of the needs and concerns of the peoples of the Global South.
