{"id":4757,"date":"2023-11-15T11:59:41","date_gmt":"2023-11-15T09:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dhcab.com\/?p=4757"},"modified":"2023-11-15T11:59:41","modified_gmt":"2023-11-15T09:59:41","slug":"us-still-importing-banned-russian-oil-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dhcab.com\/?p=4757","title":{"rendered":"US still importing banned Russian oil products"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"postie-post\">\n<div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Despite the sanctions, the US Department of Defense continues to purchase petroleum products that are made using Russian oil, the WP reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Greek refinery Motor Oil Hellas, which is a supplier for the Pentagon&#8217;s needs, is receiving Russian-made fuel oil, according to the media.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past two years, Dortyol shipping terminal in T\u00fcrkiye received 5.4 million barrels of fuel oil by sea, all but 1.9 million from Russia.<\/p>\n<p>Russian oil products were purchased by an oil trader from the UAE, which in turn exported it to T\u00fcrkiye, from where it went to Motor Oil Hellas.<\/p>\n<p>A refinery modeler and refined fuels market analyst concludes:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see any other possible conclusion than Russian fuel is going to Motor Oil Hellas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon commented on the situation saying the responsibility for compliance with sanctions lies with the suppliers themselves.<\/p>\n<p>It has inked nearly $1 billion worth of new contracts with the Greek refinery since the US ban took effect in March of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Since February, more than 1 million barrels of fuel from Motor Oil Hellas have also gone to government and corporate buyers in Italy, France, Spain and Britain, according to shipping records.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the US not only use it themselves, but also resell it to European countries.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the EU embargo on imports from Russia and tougher sanctions, the US continues to profit from speculation while the resource becomes more expensive.<\/p>\n<p>Divide and conquer<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite the sanctions, the US Department of Defense continues to purchase petroleum products that are made using Russian oil, the WP reported.
